Tiny Moments - Day 26

"When I Grow Up I Want To Be Just Like Dadda"
I have been loving Jon's stay-cation this week and I am not the only one! Jaxson loves this guy more than words. He seriously always wants to be by, harass and play with Jon all day. He wants to be just like dadda. Honestly I couldn't be more happy about that. I knew when I married Jon, heck even when I was dating him, that he would not only be an amazing dad but that he was just amazing person. So I couldn't be happier that Jax wants to be just like dadda.

Fetchin' Wisdom Teeth

When my oral surgeon said, being 28 you will not bounce back like an teenager I expected some extra recovery time. Maybe a day or two extra, equally 4 days max. Boy did I under estimate my recovery. I have had a lot more pain, numbness, jaw soreness, nausea and swelling than I ever imagined. Here is my experience as an old lady post-op wisdom teeth removal!

Day 1: Monday
Waking up from anesthesia was horrible. Mind you I have been under three times prior (twice for oral surgery and once for an ear procedure. The three procedures were done when I was 6 and 17) and my experience waking up was fine. This time, I felt like a crazy person and super nauseous. After they got me in the car and in bed, I started to puke up blood. After the puking, I slept on and off for the day and did ice packs to avoid swelling. My whole face felt pretty numb for most of the day and then subsided to the right side of my chin and lip. Also, I wish I was one of those people who lost their appetite but that night I was starving but kept to ice cream to get my meds down. That night I went to bed feeling nasty but felt like I was going to recover well.

Day 2: Tuesday
The next morning swelling started to set in. I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how traumatized my poor face was. Jon was so great and got me a smoothie and made sure I was doing my salt water washes and taking my meds. That night I decided to take two percocets to knock me out because I didn't sleep well the first night. Well that royally back fired and I ended up heavily hallucinating and not getting any sleep. Safe to say I am off the Percocet (day 3). I also mastered mash potatoes, jello and pudding today.

Day 3: Wednesday
My swelling definitely was worse on the morning of day 3 and I thought getting ready for the day would help me feel better (especially since I still had puke in my hair from the day of the procedure). Once I finished getting ready, the vain part of me was almost in tears because I look like Jay Leno's daughter. Mind you I have an oval face, so the portion by my jaw has always been thin but not this day!!! I also started heat compresses (with my boobie soothers from when I had Jax!) which was supposed to increase circulation and aid in healing which in turn is supposed to help with the swelling. The swelling on my left side did go down quite a bit but the right is still raging!!!

Day 4: Thursday
Yay the swelling has finally started to go down a little bit!!! Mind you I am still a little puffy but progress none the less. All that's left to get rid of is the pain and numb lip and chin...wahooo! Also today I was able to indulge in one of my guilty pleasures....Beto's breakfast burrito. Thank goodness it's soft! Most foods are still presenting a challenge to eat.
Day 5: Friday
So today I woke up brushed my teeth and went about my day. Then Jon and I decided to take Jaxson to the Living Planet Aquarium, so I went to get ready. I went to put lotion on my face and noticed I had huge bruises on both sides of my face. I went to show Jon and he said oh I thought you noticed them when you were brushing your face, Lyss, they are pretty huge you know. I started laughing, such a butt!

Day 6: Saturday
Don't mind the nastiness of the picture! Wicked insomnia last night. But my face swelling is almost gone. The pain is still there but manageable with IBuprofen most of the time. The bruising is still very much there and the right side of my chin and lip are still numb. All and all I have been very surprised how slow and painful my recovery has been and if I had the choice I don't know that I would have the procedure again. Oh well, what's done is done and hopefully my stitches will fall out soon and the pain, numbness and bruising will continue to go away.
Lastly word to the wise.....don't wait and get your wisdom teeth out when you are almost 29 because the recovery SUCKS! But I will say my recovery team couldn't have been better! Jon was amazing and Jax has been so patient. Love those boys of mine!

Tiny Moments - Day 25

"My Match-y Match Boys"
Is it not the cutest thing when my boys match?....yup pretty sure it is!!!! Jax is pretty much always obsessed with his Dad.....and I do mean obsessed. And Jon is pretty obsessed with his boy too. This love-fest has multiplied this week with Jon playing Mr. Mom. Jax has turned even more so into a dadda's boy, if that's possible! Jon leaves the room, he cries, Jon goes to the bathroom, he cries, etc......STRUGGLES! It is pretty dang cute how much these two love each other though. They definitely have the most special bond and are forever and always two peas in a pod.

Living Planet Aquarium - Round 2

Since Jon has been on Mr. Mom duty the majority of the week he made a fantastic discovery, Jaxson loves fishies. We kind of knew that but when he showed Jax the fish at Walmart, Jax lost it with excitement. So we decided to head back to Living Planet Aquarium to give it another shot and it was pretty great.
Yup we are those parents, we put our kid on a leash!!! (And we were the only ones at the aquarium to do so) We love our little guy but he is WILD! His listening and obeying skills are still pretty wanting at this point. We knew he would enjoy the aquarium if he go and do instead of in and out of the stroller and us carrying him. So we busted out the monkey back pack and let him go wild. When I say he was on cloud nine that might a bit of an understatement. :)
Trying to get Jaxson to take a picture in the canoe was pretty impossible. He needed to run!
Little friend doesn't like himself or anything. He found the one and only mirror in the entire aquarium and kissed it. I know, super gross because how many kids have touched it. That thought immediately popped into mine and Jon's head and we gave his leash a little tug to move on.
The monkey and his monkey. We told Jax he was taking his monkey on an adventure around the museum and he was pretty happy about it. He cuddled with his monkey the whole way up to Sandy and pretty much the whole way home. (Thanks for Shauna for the monkey, it's been a life saver)
Looking at the awesome fishies. He was loving them.
There were a couple of tanks he just wanted to crawl in.
Looking at the pengiuns. The first go around he was not impressed but the second stop by he was a little more into them. They are my favorite!
Don't mind my huge face. It's the only picture I was okay with because it was somewhat far away. My cheeks are still pretty puff, especially when I smile. I am sure I will look back and laugh some day but not today! But look at my cute boys on the left.
He seriously almost dove into the tide pool. He thought it was a Jaxson size pool for him to swim. He was pretty bugged when we took him away for splashing too much....poor little fishies didn't really anything to do with him because of his crazy splashing!
Amusingly this was probably Jax's favorite part of the aquarium, a large boat wheel he could turn! Haha, I love this kid. I think our next adventure will be to the Discovery Gateway Children's Science Museum in Salt Lake. I think he would absolutely love that place.
This picture is probably my favorite of the day. Jax is taking off running and Jon's facial expression says it all! We were both pretty exhausted by the end of our time at the aquarium. But what a fun day with my favorite two boys!!!

Here is our first adventure to  the aquarium back in September, Living Planet Aquarium - Round 1.
We are pretty excited they are moving to Draper this spring and supposedly it's going to double in size. (Wahoo because it's little!)

Spinning Party & So Much More :)

The party starts off slow with a little lego play.....
Then it was time for the main even....SPINNING! Oh the joy spinning brings to my little friend.
After spinning it was time to take Lionel on a walk......
And then he decided it was time to tackle dadda......
After the tackling someone was ready for a nap.......
Oh the joys of being 15 months :)

Tiny Moments - Day 24

"The Moments I Missed"
I hate that my wisdom teeth removal recovery has knocked me so hard on my butt! I swear recovering from Jaxson's birth was easier than this recovery (probably because the mommy in me has blocked it out so I will have more children!). Also I feel like I have missed so many little moments with Jax because of it. I will wake up from a nap hearing his little giggle and be so happy and sad at the same time. Today was the first day I was able to kind of play (mind you my child tends to be a brute and plays hard. On a normal day I am accidentally hit in the face with some type of object no less than 10 times). Playing with the mister was pretty amazing!!! It also reminded me how blessed I am to stay home with this little guy every day. It is always easy for me to fall into the stay-at-home mom pit falls but being out of the full time mommy gig for a couple days has been a special kind of reminder of my blessings.

I Love These Types of Moments

After a day of resting and taking a break from mommy duty, Jon told me I had to come see this. I walked out from our bedroom to the dining nook where Jax was finishing up dinner and watching some cartoons. Jon backed up the DVR a little bit to play a specific commercial and this was the result....

Oh how I love that giggle....makes a momma's world go round!

Tiny Moments - Day 22

"If I Was Jay Leno's Daughter"
Oh man look at looks cheekers!!! I seriously could be Jay Leno's daughter right now.....they are HUGE! Let me just say what everyone already knows, getting your wisdom teeth out sucks! Especially getting out all four at once. First there is the nausea & puking and feeling like a drunk crazy person coming out of anesthesia. Then there is the pain, the soreness, the swelling, eating only mushy foods (I want STEAK or something else good!) and lastly the numb chin and lip that won't go away. Silver lining to it all are my great murses....Jon and Jax. Jon has been great about getting me food, medicine, cleaning up my puke, sleeping on the couch (to help me avoid his snoring ;)), etc. And little monkey has been good to run in our room and give me loves. Hopefully I will not be Jay Leno's daughter for much longer....not such a good look for me! ;)

Tiny Moments - Day 21

""Ice Cream" All Around"
When mom gets her wisdom teeth removed, we all get treats! While Jax can't have ice cream (due to his dairy intolerance) he can have sorbet. So Jon loaded him a tiny bowl of sorbet and gave it a shot. It had three different flavors, lime, raspberry and orange. Shockingly he only liked one, orange. I know this picture doesn't look like he liked any of them but he really did, the cold just shocks him. He is just too cute to resist.

Tiny Moments - Day 20

"Sunday Best on the Naughtiest Boy"
Oh how can someone who looks this cute walking into church be such the naughtiest boy ever when he sits down!!! This Sunday was a ROUGH one!!! Jon had to work, so it ended up being the second Sunday flying solo at church (during nap time). Usually Jon and I pass the monster back and forth and generally can find enough things to occupy him through Sacrament meeting.....today not so much! And our poor friends, Crystal and Matt were subjected to our little terror (but were such good sports about it!). By the end of Sacrament meeting I was sweating (it was also a sauna in there which did not help, that comes with having 2:30pm church and the body heat of three other wards before us), Jax had his binky permanently fixed in his mouth, both of his shoes were off, all his snacks were gone, books read, toys played with and he had climbed all over, on and all around me a thousand times trying to get down. Again I repeat, how can someone look so cute but be so naughty???

So now that Jon is working one Sunday a month (we love and hate Verizon), we are going to start Sacrament training (which they say is also really good for their attention span with other activities). My sister had suggested it last week but I was overwhelmed with being a single parent and could only think of fun things to get us through the day. But now seeing how my monster is getting more unruly in Sacrament it's time. Wish me luck!!!!

Bedhead & Blueberries

Why are babies, even toddlers, so cute when they wake up? For me, I think it's because Jax is not at full speed yet. He's still a sleepy and sweet. That and he has the most adorable bedhead ever!

Tiny Moments - Day 19

"Nothing Like a Family Adventure"
I love going on adventures with my little family! Jon and I have been talking about going to Scheels to check it out since it opened. Today we finally made it up there and had a blast. Jax loved looking at all the animals and indulge his crazy parents in taking pictures in all the little photo booths.

Tiny Moments - Day 18

"I Knew I Should Have Wrapped Him In Bubble Wrap"
This is such a sad tiny moment for this momma! Look at my poor babes head :(. If you have ever seen Jax "walk" (meaning run like a drunk little sailor) you wonder how he doesn't have more bonks and bruises.....he trips and falls a lot! This bonk happened today in mine and Jon's bedroom. He was looking out a window, backed up and turned around the same time, tripping and took a header into the nightstand. He is seriously a tough little kid though. He cried for about 1 minute, another couple minutes of cuddling and he was off laughing and playing. Love this little tough guy of mine but is it okay if I wrap him in bubble wrap???!? :)
