Jaxson's 5th Birthday!!!

I can't even!!! My first babes is 5 year old!!! 5 years old!!! It's hard to put into words how much I truly love and adore my boy. He is adventure. He is joy. He is energy. He is happiness. He is tenderness. He is turbo speed in all things. He is love. He is fearless. He is sweetness and sour. He is kind. He is curious. He is steadfastness (aka stubborn at times). He is creation. He is exploration. He is fun. He is determination. He is so much more! He inspires me to explore. To love deeper. To delve into life deeper. To dig into my patience and love for him. I'm so grateful for his amazing, crazy, loving spirit in our home. He makes every day an adventure, a creation, an exploration. And his energy puts life over the top. We are so incredibly grateful for him and cannot believe we get to be his parents forever! Here is a little more about our Jaxson.....
- He loves, loves, loves his new preschool. His teacher Mrs. Millington is such a good fit for him. Pretty much every morning he asks if it's a school day (he goes three days a week). And he is thriving. I'm not sure if its the extra year or the environment but it's been so fun to see his love of learning grow exponentially this year so far! (he knows his shapes, colors, mixing colors, writes his name like a champ, rocking his letters and their sounds, learning numbers and addition, knows his numbers up to 30ish, loves learning about animals and coloring is his favorite subject per Jaxson)
- He still loves tubs (once he finally gets in he never wants to get out!) and the shower freaks him out a little bit. I have noticed recently he is a little irritable around certain noises startling noises). So we will see how that goes with a little more time.
- He likes company in the bathroom only when he is peeing and privacy when he poops. This has changed a little bit since mid year for him and now he is good to do it all on his own. He is finally potty trained at night (Jon gets up with his one at 11pm) and we are super proud of him because we know what a heavy sleeper he is.
- He loves playing video games in the basement with Jon, which I still tolerate. His favorite games are super heroes on the Playstation and Mario Kart on the Wii. He loves to organize and play with the figurines almost just as much and I LOVE that! He is so incredible creative with his stories and his ability to create worlds and scenarios for his figures, cars, legos, pups, etc.
- He is still a daddy's boy to his core! He loves wrestling with Jon, playing cars, jumping on the tramp, doing errands, eating next to him and pretty much anything else you can think of....as long as his dad is right there. They really do have the sweetest little relationship and I see how much Jax looks up to Jon. I'm grateful I get to watch it grow and blossom. I'm also grateful I get to have my own sweet relationship with my boy. We love baking together. creating infrastructures to his stories, playing outside, talking about anything and everything he will share with me and so much more.
- He says the cutest stuff like "mom, it's like a really great day outside".....pretty much every time the sun is shining.
-He prefers comfy pants to jeans and loves anything that has a cartoon on it....poor him because I'm not a fan so all of that remains in play clothing. Except I did cave and he did get some pretty cool Vans that have Mario kart characters on it (I promise they are the coolest cartoon shoes you will ever see)
- He loves to have a million blankies and lovies and he has a fallen off the bed multiple times because he likes to sleep with them all. We do have stretches where we convince him not to sleep with everything and it's so much better!
- He's quick to say, "you're right, you're right" with the cutest inflection when someone else is right and then he will say, "your bad" when you are wrong or make a mistake.
- He loves anything Lego, Marvel superheroes, Disney cars, Hot Wheels, Paw Patrol
-He used to prefer to wear a hat almost every day and recently he's good with either wearing a hat or doing his hair.
-He wants to do every single thing in this life with his cousins.....especially his boys. But he also still has the sweetest relationship with Lola. And when I say everything he was made the other day when cousins weren't at the grocery store. This has faded since being in school, but it was epic in the summer.....pretty much every single outing!
- He went through a phase this year where he was Snoopy......it was pretty amusing but I don't think Jon or I were sad when it passed.
- He always relates to the mischievous characters. Not the bad guys, but the daredevils, the ones that tend to be a little naughty but are still good....we might be in trouble with him ;)
- When he's full he usually says, "that's enough for me" (although the phrase is slowing fading away and I'm a little sad.....it's so stinking cute!)
- He loves other kids! He sees kids and he's always dying to play or be included. Because he is so high energy sometimes this presents a challenge but he is a determined little soul and so sweet that I think with time it will work it's self out (& if not, we will find a way to work it out).
- He is the sweetest little cheer master for his brother. Seriously he is always cheering him on or clapping or trying to help. He also likes to pick him up a lot and relocate him if he's in his stuff.
- He loves to be a special helper and thinks he's such a big boy in most things
- He likes pop music much to Jon's dismay. But he loves to dance along and attempts to sing a lot of songs....cracks me up!
- He loves to be outside! Rain, shine, snow, etc.....he wants, nay needs to be out there. He also loves to work in the yard. He really is such a good little helper with things outside. He is always digging, creating, doing something outside.
- He loves summer as much as he loves winter and is equal to his love of spring and fall. He loves it all and looks forward to what each holds.
-He went solo kneeboarding this year and thought it was awesome (Big thanks to Aunt Jen and Uncle Ross for the boat rides). He also thinks riding in the boat is amazing and could do it all day, every day if we let him or had a boat ;).
-He is loving coloring and painting so much lately. We probably do it almost everyday. He is rocking staying in the line and his people went from having 20 arms and legs to looking normal and I'm a little sad his bug armed people went away. But it's cute to see his people get a little more definition with arms, legs, hair (only on Jon's face, not his head....which is super funny!), faces. etc
-He loves hims some ipad time which I am not a fan of! But he usually earns it or is so loud he gets it a little when brother is napping.
-He loves root beer, sprite, any fruity treat, snickerdoodles, sorbet, burritos, chicken nuggets, most fruits and veggies, crackers, pretzels, bears, cereal, oatmeal and lots more. He still tends to be a picky eater (but will usually try something once). He still has some food allergies (milk - mild, egg - moderate/high & peanuts - anaphylactic/HIGH) he is dealing with. He is getting so good at knowing what foods he can have and waiting to ask on ones he is not so sure of. And rocks at carrying his dinosaur bag which has his epi-pen.
- He loves to race Jon or anyone that leaves our house on the sidewalk as they drive down the road. And he always asks for a kiss and hug when mom or dad leaves.
- He kisses and hugs his brother every night before bed (and a whole bunch during the day.....well on a good day).
- I'm sure there are a thousand things I could say or write about this crazy of ours.....bottom line, he is pretty amazing in his Jaxson ways and we are so blessed as a family to have him.

Here is his birthday morning......
(He had already snuck out of his room and found his presents before I could get his original run through with the balloons this morning....thankfully it wasn't a big ask for him to do it again...he loves the balloon tradition!....my lungs beg to differ on loving it!)

We also did our traditional birthday pumpkin patch stop. It was also Benson's first year at the pumpkin patch, so get ready for a major picture overload!......
After the pumpkin patch, Jax came home and finished opening birthday presents and had a surprise visit from Grandpa and Grandma Conley! (Which I suck and didn't get pictures of) :( We decided to forgo ice cream tradition this year as it got too late to go with our surprise visit but we will definitely do that next year :).
