Learning From Esther

My visiting teachers came over today and shared this video with me. I couldn't help but tear up as I watched it. It amazed me to see the way Esther's use of courage was related to finding courage in our latter day. We all have trials and challenges and we can choose how we meet them. I hope I can learn to face them more like Esther.

Growing up, my Grandpa Barrett always had a toothpick in his mouth after dinner. Oh wait, he still does :). Now my husband randomly started the same habit. So I have started to call him Grandpa B :).  The habit is pretty cute and nostalgic but I am not loving the fact that I am finding them all over the house! Haha oh well!

We have been waiting all summer for this movie to come out!!! We have a little Planes/Cars obsession going on at our house right now and if I have to watch the first Planes one more time......my head might explode....ahhhhh! Thankfully Jon finally had a Saturday off, so we headed to Thanksgiving point for the earliest matinee they had. Jax did pretty well and only got antsy the last 15-20 minutes. After the movie was over, we headed to Walmart to get a little toy to commemorate his first real movie! Needless to say, Jax had the best day ever!!! :)

I seriously started to loathe the rug in our family room. Everything disappeared in it. It looked matted and gross and it was less than 2 years old. My loving husband, traded a bunch of electronic crap and games (which I don't love anyways) into Amazon and I was able to this awesome rug (it kind of looks black but it's navy and white). And I love it!!!!

During the spring I bought a bunch of materials to build shelves and I measured incorrectly! Ahhhhh! So the materials just sat in my garage for months. Today I was able to make the best of it and put these bad boy shelfs up. Not too bad if I say so myself. I was pretty excited and then the Friends clip of Monica came into my mind.....Monica-gasm.

Nobody Said Anything About The No Baby Blues

I remember a little bit after Jaxson was born, I had a week or so where I was super over exhausted and pretty crazy emotional....the pretty standard baby blues. They faded rather quickly and life progressed along with our new little guy. Now every month I experience what I have come to call my "no baby blues". I have a few days after I start my cycle, where I am a smidgen irrational and pretty crazy emotional. I used to try to prepare myself or attempt to hold it in. Unfortunately both attempts fail miserably every month, hence my no baby blues. I know they are probably mine for the duration of our baby drought and it is what it is. Thankfully like the real baby blues, they fade and life finds a more normal balance.

Salt Lake Day

We as a family have made it a goal to make at least two trips a year to play and enjoy Salt Lake. Here is a recap of our summer adventure to SLC (now to convince Jon we need two trips a year to southern Utah/Vegas). 

We love taking the Front Runner up to Salt Lake. No stressing about parking and Jax loves the train. 

These two kill me! :)

We love the LDS children's museum. Jaxson really liked the boat and fishing this visit. 

And checking out and "driving" the jeep. 

After Temple Square we were off to the Gateway Mall to play in the fountain.

After waiting for the Frontrunner for almost an hour (we missed it by 5 minutes, it was so sad!), we finally headed home! Jax was far less enthralled with the ride home because he was one tired boy. All in all it was a very successful day and we are looking forward to our winter SLC adventures! :)

Oh this little boy!!! Today when I was mowing the lawn, he brought me the newspaper grocery ad. He found otter pops in the ad and decided he just needed to have one like right away. Well I am sucker for a cute boy in pajamas at 11:30 in the morning, so he got one. :) We love summer!!!

Well the potty training had to start sometime. Unfortunately we decided now is not the time! After 4 accidents in thirty minutes and the constant holding in his poop, we decided it might be better to start potty training in the fall. Hang onto to your shorts people this little dude is going to be a rough little guy to potty train.

Someone has developed a LOVE for black beans. Like black beans by the plate love. I adore that this love gives him a little black bean mustache. It's so freakin' cute!!!

This kid! I swear he has it all figured out! He has a joy for life that continually astounds me. It is something that I have admired in my boy since the day he was born. He was born curious but content. Joyful but passionate. Just look at that face.....that face.....he might have it all figured out. :)

It's always nice on the 4th of July to put our monkey to bed and watch the fireworks across the lake, just the two of us. :)
