When Did the World Change....

Okay so if you like my "Alyssa Rants", you will probably enjoy this. It's hard to deny that the world has changed since I was little and will only continue to do so. What has recently shocked me about this every changing world is the lack integrity. We are currently building a home in Saratoga Springs and have experienced a huge lack of integrity in our builder. When we signed on our house we selected a 2 foot kitchen extension which was extends into the tandem garage and was to be completed in wood laminate and the door was to remain in same place. Well surprise, surprise, our back door was put in an incorrect location and the two feet of wood laminate was exchanged for two feet of carpet (which is a 1/4 of the cost but we were charged the laminate price?!!?!?). We did not purchase a two foot family room extension, which is what we are getting. The back door is also now 4 inches over our basement window well and does not line up with transition from the vault in the family room to the flat ceiling in the kitchen as it does with all other homes with this floor plan. What the freak right??!!? After I found the company's mistake by going through our design center paperwork, contract and walking through our home and then confirming it by walking through every home in our neighborhood with the same floor plan, we had our awesome realtor (I say it with totally sincerity) bring this to the attention of the builder. Our builder than informed him that our home was built correctly and the rest were built incorrectly.....again I say what?!!!??!? They also pushed off the meeting with the building superintendent by a week and would not give us access to our floor plans! Come on how stupid do they think we are? We then offered them a compromise of letting them finish family room in the laminate and include one window well cover at their cost, leaving the door at it's current incorrect placement, as our home is at the mud and stucco point, so it would be very expensive for them to move it. This would allow for my safety concern of the exterior placement of the door and as well as addressing the interior placement so the rooms weren't so distinguishable and we would be able to have more flexibility in decorating and furniture placement. This compromise was sent to the vice president of our builder who said no and insisted our home was built correctly. Our realtor responded by saying okay let us know when the door is moved then (yeah he plays hard ball and rocks it!). We are still waiting for a response on that one. Lastly, our realtor also found an individual who used to build with our builder and told him our situation. He said he had built that floor plan countless times and our door was in the wrong place. So circling back to my original point, I just don't understand why they can't own their mistake and fix it. yes I know it eats into their profits but at this point they just look extremely dishonest and silly. Not to mention we have a signed contract with a 2 foot extension kitchen and additional laminate purchased for this extension. It will be interesting to see what happens. Well there you go another rant by Alyssa :). (*Sorry this lady is fuming and I needed to get it off my chest!)
